Monday, August 27th, Ulrich Høgenhaven and Pia Jakobsen from Viking Wind participated in a business get-together event organized by the Bangladeshi Embassy in Denmark, together with 30 selected Danish companies and a delegation from Bangladesh consisting of high-ranking officials and business people.

"Denmark and Bangladesh already have very good trade and investment relations and recently these ties have been further strengthened" said the Bangladeshi Ambassador to Denmark Muhammed A. Muhith at the event on Monday evening. Muhith at the event on Monday evening.

The event, organized by the Bangladeshi Embassy, was well represented with leaders from Danish companies in renewable energy, dairy, shipbuilding, information technology and more.

The Bangladesh delegation, led by Dr. Nahid Rashid, Additional Secretary and Wing Chief Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance, Bangladesh, also included representatives from the Bangladeshi shipping industry and ERD.

The Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh, Winnie Estrup Petersen, who also attended the event, encouraged the Danish companies to seize the unique opportunity the event provided to have the chance to talk to the Bangladeshi delegation of high-level officials and businessmen to further promote the interests of Danish companies in Bangladesh.

The Bangladeshi Embassy in Denmark opened in May 2015 to promote trade and investment interests between the two countries. Trade with Denmark has grown steadily since then. In 2017-18, Bangladesh's exports to Denmark amounted to 730 turbineion US dollars, while Danish exports to Bangladesh amounted to 100 turbineion US dollars. Danish investors have recently seen a positive trend with increased Danish investments in areas such as dairy, pharmaceuticals and environment (including renewable energy sectors).

The meeting and subsequent dinner on Monday evening, which aimed to further strengthen ties between Denmark and Bangladesh, seemed to have served its purpose well - participants from Viking Wind and other companies interested in trading with Bangladesh were very pleased with the outcome of the event.
