Another whirlwind visit to Bangladesh

21/3/2019

Once again, a tight program of activities was planned with little room for delays when Viking Wind visited Bangladesh in early March 2019.

Ulrich Høgenhaven, CEO and Pia Jakobsen, Sales and Project from Viking Wind, went on another exciting trip to Bangladesh in early March 2019.

The trip was, as before, organized in collaboration with the Danish Embassy in Bangladesh, which has been an invaluable help and support throughout the Bangladesh project.

Another tight schedule was set for the visit, which included meetings with stakeholders, a 12-hour sailing trip with a subsequent visit to the island of Monpura and a business "get together" event hosted by Viking Wind.

The many appointments on the agenda for the people from Viking Wind included meetings with an IT technology company, the United Nations development program, an NGO organization (non-profit organizations that are not dependent on the state - charity, human rights and environmental organizations), renewable energy companies, government agencies in Bangladesh responsible for sustainable energy and rural development, and a company specializing in infrastructure development.

Also included was a visit to Monpura Island - a densely populated island in northern Bangladesh that would greatly benefit from a stable and renewable energy solution. After a long and challenging 12-hour boat trip to the island, there was time for an island tour and visits before returning to Dhaka for another series of stakeholder meetings at the Danish Embassy.

Before heading back to Denmark, Viking Wind hosted a business get together on Wednesday evening at the Danish Ambassador's residence. 50-60 guests were invited, consisting of Danish companies located in Bangladesh as well as local Bangladeshi companies.

The evening began with a presentation from SREDA - the government agency in Bangladesh responsible for sustainable and renewable energy. This was followed by a presentation from Viking Wind, after which there was time to network with the invited guests.

Thursday brought more meetings before returning to Denmark on Thursday night.
