The pool for small wind turbines opens up again

1/5/2018

The Danish Energy Agency is currently reopening applications for price supplements for surplus electricity if you want to install a brand new domestic wind turbine.

The pool is open from May 2, 2018 through June 13, 2018.

In 2018, the pool is 1 MW plus the remaining wattage from the 2017 domestic wind pool of 11.6 kW. The surcharge for 2018 is:

  • 136 øre per KWh for domestic turbines with an installed capacity of 10 kW or less
  • 96 øre per kWh for domestic turbines with an installed capacity of more than 10 kW, but no more than 25 kW

The price supplement is set so that the price supplement and the market price together amount to DKK 0.136 and DKK 0.96 per kWh, respectively. The price premium is granted for 12 years from the Point of Connection.

It is the Danish Energy Agency that processes and decides whether you can be granted a price supplement within the pool in question. The processing and decision of the applications is made in the order in which the Danish Energy Agency receives complete applications.

If the Danish Energy Agency receives several complete applications on the same day that together exceed the amount of remaining watts in the pool, the order in which the applications are to be decided will be decided by drawing lots.

The deadline for applications is June 13, 2018

There are great benefits to be gained if you choose a turbine that is already on Dansk Energi's positive list

Please note that it is a great advantage if the installed turbine is on the Danish Energy Agency's positive list. If it is not, extensive technical documentation must be submitted before the turbine can be connected to the grid. You can read more about this here. It will therefore clearly facilitate the administrative workflow to choose a turbine from the positive list, as you do not need to apply for an exemption to have your domestic turbine connected to the grid.

Please note that the Viking VS25 and VS10 turbines are already on the positive list at Dansk Energi.
