Viking Wind installs 2nd turbine on Vejrø
29/5/2019
On Monday, May 27, 2019, the installation of turbine no. 2 at Vejrø Resort began. The luxury resort, located on the small island of Vejrø north of Lolland, has a mission to be energy self-sufficient and with the second turbine from Viking Wind installed in their existing hybrid solution, they are a good step further towards this goal.
The new turbine, like the first turbine installed on Vejrø in the fall of 2018, is a Viking VS25. It is a flexible and adaptable solution, well-suited to the relatively remote island with its independence from being connected to a grid. Vejrø, which is not connected to the mainland, has previously relied on fossil fuel being shipped to the island, which has been expensive, inconvenient and not least harmful to the environment, as the fossil fuel, in addition to being polluting in itself, required transportation to the island by truck and ferry.
It is a so-called Off Grid solution that is gaining popularity - not least in the global market - as the solution, in addition to being grid independent, also offers storage of excess energy for periods with less wind power or an increased energy demand, where the excess energy is stored in a powerful battery for later use.
The growing global interest in this particular turbine type is largely due to its flexibility and stability, which makes it particularly suitable for installation in areas with underdeveloped infrastructure and poor energy supply options.
At the same time, the second Viking VS25 turbine on Vejrø beautifully fulfills the Vejrø resort's desire to be self-sufficient through renewable and green energy solutions.
At Viking Wind, we are always looking for satisfied customers and are therefore delighted that Vejrø resort has chosen us as their supplier once again.
